Beautiful Port Vell. At the end of Las Ramblas, where the statue of Colon stands, you can find the old port (Port Vell). A wonderful stroll on a sunny Summer day.
Separated from the Gunung Leuser National Park only by the Batang river, Tangkahan is a little community in Northern Sumatra, that wants to promote tourism in their beautiful corner of the world in order to protect the forests and its wildlife, nature wonders that they love so much. The wildlife of Northern Sumatra includes wonderful animals like the Sumatran orangutan, tiger, rhino and elephant, all of them critically endangered.
One day in Singapore is not enough, I learnt that. But I think we made the most of the time we had in the city. We started the day walking the Orchard Road all the way to the Botanic Gardens (which deserves a post alone) and spent the morning there. We had lunch in Chinatown, where we also walked the streets beneath the hundreds of lanterns that were prepared for the Mooncake Festival. Afterwards, we headed downtown, to the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and the Helix bridge and took a boat cruise along the Singapore river. We had dinner in a typical street food market.
